A stuffed animal is the illusion of a real animal; it is the transformation of life, an attempt to dominate and control the natural world. The deer is caught in stasis, between apparent life and apparent death. The viewer first sees the deer\'s head hung on the wall like a trophy. The illusion is reinforced when we see the other side, where the animal stands alone in a bare room with its head disappearing into the wall. The scene is ambiguous, is the deer alive or dead? The viewer is always oscillating between perception and reality.
